    To find the slope(m), use the slope formula:

    m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}        And substitute/plug in the two points on the line

    (2, -8) = (x₁, y₁)

    (4, 1) = (x₂, y₂)

    m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

    m=\frac{1-(-8)}{4-2}  (two negative signs cancel each other out and become positive)

    m=\frac{1+8}{4-2}

    m=\frac{9}{2}

    9/2. turn each coordinate pair into y/x and subtract them. hope this helps 🙂
